About Don Gillmore, maker of Don Warren pipes From His Website: Located in the American southwest, I have been a wood worker for many years and even made a living as a custom cabinet and furniture maker for a short time. I am also a Civil War re-enactor.  While watching Civil War re-enactment films, it occurred to me that many of the soldiers were smoking pipes or cigars. I had smoked a pipe as a young man in the service and I decided to see if  I would enjoy it after a thirty five year hiatus. When an old meerschaum fell apart as I was smoking it and a recently purchased estate pipe burned through on the third bowl of tobacco, I decided that I could make pipes that lasted longer than that. As a result, I began carving pipes out of maple and cherry hardwoods before adding Briar and Morta (Bog Oak). I often use Deer Antler to accentuate the unique character of the pipe.

I am excited by the constant challenge to improve my pipe making skills and learning new techniques such as sandblast finishing.  I also carve custom pipes on commission. As an artisan pipemaker, I have been able to combine my love of woodworking with the pleasure of  pipe smoking. I enjoy creating functional hand crafted pipes that express the  beauty of the material I am using. Working with my hands relaxes and  rejuvenates me…” Don Gillmore
