Richard Friedman Unsmoked “Clam” Shaped Straight Grain Pipe W/ Leather Sleeve
ITEM DESCRIPTION –
Richard Friedman is a long time American pipe maker who enjoys the reputation of making true “pipe art,” because of the beauty of his pieces, many of them with a sea creature theme. That’s quite understandable as Richard is a recently retired sea captain who offered week long charter trips on his Yacht in Alaska. This very large “Clam” shaped piece is a marvelous example of his work. Note the way the top of the bowl and bowl base not only offer sizzling straight grain, but are also stained darker than the middle of the bowl which is covered in birdseye. The shank trim is exotic wood and actually attached to the stem. And speaking of the mottled black and gold acrylic stem, it certainly is a nice touch that completes the presentation.
