Richard Friedman Unsmoked “Cornucopia” Shaped Straight Grain Pipe W/ Leather Sleeve

UNSMOKED! Richard Friedman is a long time American pipe maker who enjoys the reputation of making true “pipe art,” because of the beauty of his pieces, many of them with a sea creature theme. That’s quite understandable as Richard is a recently retired sea captain who offered week long charter trips on his Yacht in Alaska. This straight grain “Cornucopia” shaped piece  with Malachite accent is a marvelous example of his work. Note the way the bowl bottom seems to swirl into a shank to receive the stem’s tenon. And the Malachite inlay is a very enhancing touch!
