Charatan’s Original Black Aromatic – 1970’s era & Made by Dunhill

Made for Charatan by the Dunhill factory until the late 1970’s when the Charatan recipes were sold to an Import company called Tor Imports, which sat on the blends for decades and then in 2017, partnered up with Kopp in Germany to resurect the Charatan blends. Bottom line, this is the original Dunhill factory made Black Aromatic and boasts no less than 45-years of age. I smoked a tin of this one back in 2015, and here’s what I came away with when writing a review for tobaccoreviews.com: “I recently picked up a few old vintage blends of tobacco in a “bakky swap” with a friend. Curiosity got the best of me with a tin of Charatan’s Black Aromatic that was in the mix, so, I had to open it and start smoking a bowl. It has both black and brown Virginia ribbon in it. I’d call the black leaf Virginia Cavendish because it was really stoved and some kind of blueberry/wine taste came through in the background as I smoked. Very pleasant and since it’s from the old days in England (only natural and no artificial flavorings were allowed), it’s only a very mild taste of something other than tobacco that I am getting “
